Hazeldean, Alberta

Hazeldean is a residential neighborhood in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada’s south-east region. Hazeldean Community League, which operates a community hall, is the organization that represents the community. Hazeldean had a population of 3176 people living in 1531 residences according to the 2012 municipal census conducted by the City of Edmonton Alberta area.

According to the United States Census Bureau’s 2001 federal census, residential development in Hazeldean began shortly after World War II ended. At this point, around 9.2 percent of the total number of dwelling units had been constructed. Between the end of World War II and 1960, 74.2 percent of all houses were constructed. Another ten percent of the total was constructed throughout the 1960s. The remainder of the residences were constructed after the year 1970.

According to the 2005 municipal census, single-family homes account for 83 percent of the total number of dwellings in Hazeldean. Residences of this sort are the most prevalent in the surrounding area. Row houses account for another 15 percent of the total number of dwellings. The remainder are duplexes that are both owner-occupied and rented.

The Hazeldean people are relatively nomadic in comparison to other peoples. A total of 18.1 percent of people have relocated within the previous 12 months, according to the 2005 municipal census. Moreover, another 20.3 percent had relocated within the previous one to three years, and 49.7 percent had remained at the same address for five years or longer.

Hazeldean Elementary School, which is operated by the Edmonton Public School System, and Ecole J.H. Picard School, which is managed by the Edmonton Catholic School System, are both located in the neighborhood. The Hazeldean Elementary School is a public school that serves pupils in kindergarten through sixth grade. It also offers an interactions program that helps youngsters who are on the autistic spectrum get along with their peers.

The Argyll Sports Centre is conveniently located for residents of Hazeldean. In addition, the Doctor Gerald Care Centre, a hospital, is located in the surrounding area.

In Hazeldean, there was a neighborhood revitalization project that was completed in the year 2015. Among the tasks were the renovation and replacement of sanitary and storm sewers, the coordination of utility repairs, the rehabilitation of city-owned roadways, curbs and walkways, and the installation of lamps.

Improvements in pedestrian and cycling accessibility were identified through consultation with residents as part of the project. A component of the project was working with residents to identify capital improvements on City-owned land that will improve livability.
